Heritage Lottery Success!![]() Mill Manager, Jim Bailey with the Heritage Lottery Bid
Heckington Windmill Trust are very pleased to announce the award of a £990,200 Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant.
Heckington Windmill Trust Chairman, Charles Pinchbeck is naturally delighted. He said “This grant truly recognises the significance of Heckington’s Windmill. It is a huge vote of confidence in the commitment and hard work that has been put in, not just by the members but by the project’s many supporters - Lincolnshire County Council, North Kesteven District Council, Heckington Parish Council, the Charles Haywood Foundation, Bicker Trust, local businesses and the many individuals who have played a part in our success”. The grant, which is subject to finalising the terms for the acquisition of the building and yard, will enable Heckington Windmill Trust to restore the wider mill site and create a world class visitor attraction around the mill and its Victorian industrial complex. The plan to buy the mill buildings and redevelop them it is not a new one.
The first draft scheme was proposed about 15 years ago. These original ideas have been developed and extended and brought together in the current Heckington Windmill Regeneration Project. |
