  John Pocklington (1865-1941)
John Pocklington, miller and entrepreneur, was the owner of Heckington Windmill from 1891-1941. He bought the mill to restore it and get it back to working order. The repairs were carried out using the machinery, cap and eight sails from the old Tuxford windmill, in Boston, which he had previously bought at auction; William Tuxford & Sons of Boston and Skirbeck Iron Works were pioneers in the development of agricultural machinery. He also recycled some of the bricks from the old Tuxford mill to build the miller’s house that stands at the front of the site.
